Ninben was founded more than 300 years ago, in 1699, by Ihee Takatsu. When he moved to Edo in 1691 from his home town in Mie pref, he became the apprentice of a grain trader named Tarokichi Aburaya. It was in 1699 when he began trading in Katsuobushi and shioboshi (salted and dried fish) in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. This was the very beginning of the company. Awarded the Emperor's Prize at the 18th Agricultural, Forestry, and Fisheries Festival for the development of the Katsuobushi Fresh Pack in 1979, Ninben continues to expand its contribution to the promotion of stable management in the bonito fishing industry. In the 315 years since its founding, NINBEN continues to deliver carefully selected, quality katsuobushi.

• VEGAN - No ingredients derives from animals are used. Tsuyu is the delicious soup stock used for most Japanese noodle dishes, hotpots and can even be used as a rich dipping sauce for tempura. The combination of bonito and kelp brings a rich and smooth flavor with “umami”, the Japanese word used for one of the five basic tastes.
• PRODUCT OF JAPAN - Our Tsuyu No Moto is made of Japanese Hokkaido kelp, dried shiitake muchroom and authentically brewed soy sauce. A special brewing production method results in a 3x concentrated type general-purpose soup sauce that brings out the deep flavor of all the ingredients.
• NO PRESERVATIVES, NO ARTIFICIAL COLORINGS & NO HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP - Our Tsuyu No Moto uses the freshest ingredients including domestically produced bonito flakes and kelp.
